Random ramble jamble

From what I've noticed, nearly everyone has a "comeback" or random quirky saying. For instance, my bible teacher at school has his own random quirk. Whenever he sends me a text, it usually consists of the words "arp" or "arf." lol This isn't kept solely to the texts though. It'll be the middle of class and we'll all be taking a quiz or something, and just out of the blue he'll give a quiet little "arp!" Haha we're all so used to it now that hardly any of us will even respond or look up.
Or another example I have my own little thing that I'll do. It's insanely lame cool, but without letdown gets a laugh nearly every time. It's the "comeback" or saying of "your mom." Yes, I'm sure we've all heard of the "your mom" jokes at some point in our lives. They always seemed stupid to me, but when I started saying the short little two pointless words I couldn't help but realize how random it was! I mean what is more random that saying "your mom!" after someone tells you you're short? haha Unfortunately I'm usually the only one laughing, it has to be on the top of the most random "comebacks."
My dad has the classic though. You can say nearly anything, and he'll respond with saying "11." Yes... random... probably on the top of the list for me. Ha I'll ask how much of something I need and receive the three syllables of "11." I have absolutely no idea of where this originated from, but I consistently find this pretty hil.
   So what about you?
Do you have your own little quirky "comeback" or random saying? Or perhaps you know somebody or somebodies that has their defining saying. I'm curious to hear all the different types of random ramble jamble there is out there!

Monotony rules the day

Monotony rules the day. Week by week life carries on as a vaporous whisper emitting the same fabrication you have come to recognize as normal. It leaves as soon as it arrives, but its falsehood lingers in the bowels of your inner essence. Your character portrays expected standards and exterior motives even though seeming futile at times. Results just don’t seem to surface even though you’ve been tirelessly digging. Deeper and deeper you go, and it seems you get farther away from the ever nearing goal. Perception is close to absent, and your grip on it is continually slipping away. If you could only grasp the reality of how close you are to your goal. It’s right in front of you, and has been for so very long. Unable to move or unable to see, discouragement and ennui take over. Monotony rules the day.

Marchin along in the blog parade...

Today I'm joining in on a blog parade hosted by Abigail Kraft. You should stop by and visit and check out her blog sometime. She is an excellent violinst and artist, and her blog is just fun to visit. Check her out!

1. What's your favorite time of the day, and why?
I would definitely have to say late evening. You know, that time right after dinner when you have had a good dinner, and the tiredness is kicking in, and of course waiting until the last minute to do any school homework that you may have. It's also a time to just unwind by either watching a tv show or having a conversation with the parents.

2. If health wasn't an issue, what food could you live off of?
This might be a little bit of a stretch, but I would have to say chinese food. I enjoy all foods, so asking such a specific question is a toughy. Now if you really wanted to be a legalist, then I could probably say chicken... seeing that most chinese food is chicken (at least that's what they want us to think).

3. If you could have one wish granted (besides wishing for more wishes), what would it be?

To be the best piano player in the world!! Haha okay, maybe a little vain, but I think that would be pretty sick nasty.

4. What's one thing that you get teased about a lot?
For being... short. :( I've never really thought that 5'6" was all that short, but then I compare myself to everyone I know, and yeah... I come "short" of the average height. I've pretty much made a joke of the whole thing now though. :) Everything ends up turning into a "short" joke. Good times.

5. If you could choose one movie, book, or TV show to spend your life in, which would you pick? What type of character would you be?

Ohh such a good question. Well for all of those who really know me, this won't be much of a surprise, buuuut I would probably spend my life in the movie Avatar. (yeah... the one that has grossed over $2, 550, 500, 000 and is still going) And for those of you who haven't seen the movie yet, well... you'll just have to watch it. And of course, I would obviously be a Na' vi (I think that's how you spell it).

6. If you could have one talent that you don't already have, what would it be?

I would probably have to say movie directing. I don't know why, but I think that would be pretty sweet to have a talent of doing. And if that never happened, I always was interested in having a sick talent on a guitar.
7.If money were no object, where would you go on vacation?
Paris!!! I don't know why, but I've alays had a yearn to go to Paris and visit the Eiffel Tower. :) Many of my best dreams have taken place in Paris and on the Eiffel Tower. Kinda weird, but pretty sweet.

8. If you were an awesome singer, which genre would you sing?
hmmmm  I would have to say Selah/Avalon type stuff. And if I wanted to go solo I would like singing like a David Phelps type genre. But wait... aren't I already an awesome singer??!! Ha jk

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, what would it be?
Hm that's a good question. If websites didn't count, I would probably have to say Best Buy! Oh I would indulge myself there with all of my needs and wants :)

10. If you could live in any point in time, when would it be?
I think I would love to go to the time of Jesus'
life. That would be super sweet to be able to meet Him. :)

11. If every outfit in your wardrobe had to be one color, what would it be?
Oooh a toughy. It's a toss between blue and white. I'm a big fan of white, blue, purple and of course the standard gray. But in the end, I would probably end up giong with a blue.
One of the random reasons I would probably choose the blue is becuse of my eyes are blue. Kind of a random thing, but I have noticed wearing blue enhances the blue of the eye. (ok, you can laugh) lol Kind of random, but I think it's kinda cool.

12. If you were one of the seven dwarves, which one would you be?
Kind of ironic this is asked. Just recently my senior class did a fundraiser that was a talent show, and at the end our class advisor threw upon us an impromptu skit, and the skit was Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I happened to be sneezy (which I totally hyperbolized :D) so I would definitely have to say sneezy :)

13. What's the last album you listened to?
Innocence and Instinct by "RED"   good cd :)

14. What's something we'd be surprised to know about you?
I hate dogs. Yes it's true. Sorry to all dog lovers out there. But I also must say I did used to be a dog lover. I loved dogs a lot. But over the years I have have quite a few bad experiences with some of my "best friends." In my life I have had 6 dogs. I've seen 2 of them get hit by a car, helped bury 4, and had one die in my arms on a late rainy night driving to the vet. Unfortunately it has led to a slight bitterness torward dogs and the idea that I don't want to be let down and heart-broken again. Since then they have unfortunatel seemed to become annoying and I just don't like them. :(
Sooo wow! Ending on a good note! haha

Well I definitely had a great time filling out this questionere. You should try it out and check out Abigail's blog (where I got this).
I hope you enjoyed this and got to know me a little bit better. Now you should link up to my blog and try out this questionere! You'll definitely enjoy it!

My God is bigger than a snow shovel...

A snow shovel. Yes, you may have had to think about it for a minute, but it's true... God is bigger than a snow shovel. I say this because lately we have had quite a lot of snow land on us in the good 'ol NY, and it just keeps coming. In fact it's still coming down hard as I look out the window now. Now for us (my dad, brother, sister and me), whenever it snows hard, we get to go out in the middle of the night or day (mostly in the night though) and shovel sidewalks all over the county. This is our job every winter and it's okay, but when it comes to those all nighters because of so much snow, it certainly gets tiresome. Before you know it, every thought that flows through your mind is a complaint. Little things become annoyances, and you make yourself miserable contemplating on everything that "annoys" you. I mean seriously, who wants to get up at 3 in the morning to go out in the cold, wet snow to shovel and tire yourself out?
Well unfortunately, this is where I find my mindset all too often, and it's not good. I completely throw away the fact that God is sovereign and in control of everything. I know God won't give me anything that I'm not able to handle. But then I think in terms of my own power, and know that I can do it, it's just annoying and I just don't like it. But then the Holy Spirit puts that little thought in the back of my head reminding me that I'm putting my own selfish desires and wants before anything else. I am making myself an idol and just become miserable. If I were to see myself through another pair of eyes, I would say that I didn't really care about honoring God too much. Now that's a scary place to be! I don't want people to think that at all, especially someone who is unsaved. People should be seeing the light of Jesus shine through me, even when little annoyances come my way.

1 Corinthians 10:31 "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

You see, even when little things annoy us like having to go shovel a sidewalk, try and remember that God is bigger than the snow shovel that seems to be getting on your nerves. Let God consume your mind and thoughts, instead of a plastic shovel that will just make you miserable and your testimony not stand out among this world. Be a shining light, not a black hole of selfishness.

Toesicles

   Have you ever...
-Had your feet get so cold/frozen that you can't feel them at all?? And I mean so cold that when you put them in hot or warm water, it feels like they are burning off. Ever had that happen to you? Well unfortunately yes, it happened to me today.
We had a really big snow storm come through the area starting last night, and it dumped a pretty big load of snow on us. Now when we get a snow storm, we have the lucky job of going out in the middle of the night (or whenever it's needed (which is most often in the middle of the night)) and snowblowing/shoveling and salting sidewalks. Lots of sidewalks. So last night we got a ton just within an hour, so we (being my dad, brother Matthew, sister Sarah and I) planned on going out in the morning... approx. 3:30 AM and we would get up at 3. Bleh. Well I went to bed and slept quite soundly which was nice. I woke up at 3:39 and was nearly somewhat overjoyed because I thought we weren't needing to go out because Dad didn't come get us up (btw... Dad coming to get us up is the que that we need to go). So with that thought, I got in my mind that we weren't needing to go so I set my mind to go fastly asleep. Well wouldn't you know, not even 4 minutes later, the light outside my room flicks on and Dad walks in saying it's time to get up. UGH! So much for going back to sleep! Well it took me a whole 5 minutes to mentally wake up, then probably another 2 minutes to physically sit up. Ha Finally, we got all ready and left. I was happy because I got to drive the big truck :) (Me and my bro took it while my dad took my sister) So that gave me a little inspiration. Well we were out until about 7:30ish then we came back to the house waiting for the next wav of snw to hit us. I hit the bed immediately. I don't even remember falling asleep. All I remember is waking up at 11:30ish. Eggs and toast were waiting for me to come make them, so I took up the offer. By now though, the second wave of snow had hit us and was in full affect. Soo, of course, we got dressed in our wet clothes and left for the second time around. Thankfully this time it was light out and we could see. But the downside was that it was windy and warmer. Now normally being warmer would be a great thing, but the snow was somewhat turning to slushy or just wet... hence, I got wet feet. Well, we were out until 4:30 this time and it didn't stay wam. It got colder, and the snow because not so wet.The feet stayed wet, and soon became a super cold wet. Well we got home and it wasn't like super terrible, but I decided to go plow our church parking lot. I useed an ATV with a plow on it and I plowed til dark. Well let's just say, the later it got, the colder it got. And my feet weren't exactly moving much, so they quickly became ice cubes. After a while though, I didn't really notice it too much. But, once I was done, it was like it all instantly hit me that I was an ice cube. What a feeling. I somwhow drove home feeling like a robot, and instantly peeled the clothing off and crawled in the nice and hot shower. :) Thank the Lord for hot water!! Well I was expecting an instant great feeling of warmth, but it was almost worse! I felt like the skin on my feet were literally burning off of my feet! Oh what a terrible feeling! It was bad. I ended up using lukewarm (almost cold) water, which was really weird and it somehow felt better! I don't understand, but it did. It ended up being a really long shower, but one of the best showers I've had in a long time. :) (weird to say... ha!) Gotta love hot showers! :D
(So I have to say that felt like a really weird post to write. Ha)

Saturdays

So I'm curious... what do people do on their Saturdays? I know my Saturdays usually consist of only a few things. That usually is sleep in as long as younger siblings allow, bring in fire wood via wheelburrow, go to sister's basketball games, go to movies, rent a movie, eat food, Drive around younger siblings who want to go spend the money that's burning a hole in their pocket, or of course the biggest thing... cleaning!!! To summarize it up though, it usually means cleaning a lot, and if lucky, go to the movies to see that movie that you've been talking about the whole week. Ha But I must say, the cleaning doesn't mean the minimum, or even the middle road. No way! Cleaning for Saturday means a complete, top to bottom, intensive, every detail, cleaning until it looks better than perfect (and that's not even possible!). Does this not sound like a lot of fun?! I must say that after it's all done it looks pretty good, but everything it takes to get to that point... ugh. Ha Just say outloud "craziness" and would have described our Saturdays in one word. :) Sooo, that's why I was curious what everyone else does on their Saturdays! I almost asked about Sunday, but I know that of course Sunday is Church and napping day. :)
So now I'm really curious how everyone else's Saturdays usually play out. What do you do? What do you usually wish to do, buuut tend to not work out? I'm excited to hear all of your exciting (or not so exciting) stories or Saturday schedules. :)

Really??

HOW can people that are terrible singers and try out for American Idol, really truly think they are a good singer?! Wow. This is something that really bugs, but homors me at the same time. People get on that show and walk in with big bird costumes on, or sing about their pants being on the floor, or men that sound like a really bad girl (or in some cases, the complete oppposite)!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yl_HvEHSlxQ

I must say, the producers of the American Idol show definitely know how to catch people's attention (as observed) and they do a good job! But when it comes to the actual people on the show, how they SINCERELY believe they are good and be completely upset when they don't get through (even though there wasn't any chance at all for them)?! It's one of those things that will probably always confuse me is other people's mindset and how someone can be soo terrible, but they still think they are good. Even if I had a terrible voice, I would be saying the same thing. I don't wanna sound like I'm coming from a judgemental point of view because "I'm so great," but "really?"
For all of you terrible singers who try out for American Idol....
                                                                                                       "Really?"
